According to data released by the State Election Commission (SEC), the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged on top by winning 117 posts of municipal presidents, followed by the Shiv Sena with 53 and the Nationalist Congress Party with 37. As the ruling Mahayuti is all set to clinch a massive victory in the Maharashtra local body elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the people of Maharashtra. 

Through a post on X, Shah said, "Thanks to the people of the state for giving overwhelming support to the Mahayuti in the Maharashtra Nagar Panchayat and Nagar Parishad elections." 

"This victory is the people's blessings on the vision of the welfare of every section under the central and state governments of the NDA led by Modi ji. On this victory, I extend my best wishes to Chief Minister Shri @Dev_Fadnavis  ji, Deputy Chief Minister Shri  @mieknathshinde  ji, Shri  @AjitPawarSpeaks  ji, and all the workers of the NDA," he further added. 

He also thanked all the BJP workers and the party's state President, Ravindra Chavan, for the success.

Reacting to the local body election results, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis thanked voters for what he called massive support to the BJP and the Mahayuti alliance, saying his prediction that 75% of municipal council chairpersons would come from the alliance had been borne out. Fadnavis said the BJP had clearly emerged as the number one party, with around 129 municipal council chairpersons elected from the party alone and a record 3,300 corporators winning on the BJP symbol, reflecting strong public backing. Congratulating allies Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, he said their parties had also performed well, matching the assembly poll results. He credited state BJP president Ravindra Chavan, former president Chandrashekhar Bawankule, cabinet colleagues and party workers for strong coordination between the organisation and the government, asserting that the outcome was better than 2017 and unprecedented in Maharashtra over the last three to three-and-a-half decades.
