Dubbing the Narendra Modi-led government as "anti-people", Congress chief Sonia Gandhi raised the poll pitch alleging the Bharatiya Janata Party-led dispensation in the west Indian state Gujarat is indulging in "wrong-doings".

"Mrs Gandhi says Gujarat roads are bad. Is that believable? She says Gujarat farmers are ruined. Is that how Gujarat sees 11 per cent growth in agriculture?" said Narendra Modi.

"Seventeen scams in Gujarat have caused a loss of Rs 1 lakh crore to the state exchequer in last twelve years," said Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari. "Gujrat government's growth model has given rise to crony capitalism," he added.

Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel, had, while addressing a rally in Jambusar, said, "Narendra Modi wants to rule Gujarat like a sultan of six crore people. People have to stop this sultan."

"It is time now to liberate Gujarat from the divisive politics and ensure that the people who have been trying to attain power by dividing the society and country don't come to power," Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said.

"The Prime Minister is saying that minorities feel insecure in Gujarat. With a sad heart, I have to explain to him that Gujarat does not distinguish between minority and majority and the state government is working for the uplift of six crore people of the state," Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said.

BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, while talking to Headlines Today, said that the living standard of Muslims in Gujarat is way better than in West Bengal. He also lauded Modi as the tallest leader in the BJP and said he has done work for Muslims in Gujarat.

"Modi is undertaking great development work in Gujarat. He is a role model for chief ministers of other states on how to rule, govern and take care of even the poorest," Advani said while addressing election rallies at Kalol and Mansa in Gandhinagar district.

"BJP will make a hat-trick by winning the Gujarat assembly elections for the third time in a row," said Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj.
