Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is set to headline the investigative drama Kartavya, produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, where he will portray a police officer. The film was unveiled at the Next on Netflix event as part of the streamer’s 2026 India slate, alongside another Saif Ali Khan-led project, Hum Hindustani.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, with Netflix sharing a teaser post that read, "Dharm aur karm ke yuddh mein, kya kartavya jeet payega? (In the battle between Dharm and Karm, will duty win?)" It added, "Watch Kartavya, coming soon, only on Netflix."

In Kartavya, Saif Ali Khan takes on the role of police officer Pawan Malik, who must decide how far he is willing to go to uphold his duty while facing mounting threats and protecting his family’s safety. The film also stars Rasika Dugal, Sanjay Mishra, and journalist Saurabh Dwivedi, and is directed by Pulkit, known for Bhakshak.

Alongside this announcement, Netflix revealed another Saif Ali Khan project titled Hum Hindustani, set in post-Independence India. Inspired by real-life events, the film follows a small team of officials navigating chaos, resistance, and overwhelming odds to conduct the country’s first-ever democratic election.

Directed by Rahul Dholakia and also featuring Pratik Gandhi, Hum Hindustani adds to Khan’s upcoming slate as the actor continues to explore diverse roles across genres.
