Addressing the topic of democracy, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe at the India Today Conclave 2017 said- "there's complete freedom of worshipping whichever god you like. Unless there is no difference of opinion there will be no democracy".

During the session "The Great Debate: A Million Mutinies | What Makes an Indian?", Dipankar Gupta said that the problem is not with minorities but with their spokesperson.

Talking about Uttar Pradesh assembly elections sociologist Dipankar Gupta said that Modi had all majorities on his side and his message for minorities was "go talk a walk".

"Rahul Gandhi is no competition. A leader equal to Modi has to be brought in", says Dipankar Gupta at India Today Conclave 2017.

While talking about Congress, Dipankar Gupta said that there is a reading on the wall which the party refuses to read.
