A 22-year-old B.Com student, Dhanushree, was killed in a road accident in Bengaluru on Monday morning. The incident has sparked a debate over the cause, with the DCP Whitefield calling it a hit-and-run case, stating the tipper lorry driver fled the scene. However, the JDS party and eyewitnesses allege the tragedy was a result of poor road conditions. Eyewitnesses claim Dhanushree was trying to avoid a large pothole on Bipinali main road when she was hit by the lorry. One account states, "she was trying to avoid a pothole but the vehicle was from the opposite direction." This incident is not the first of its kind in Bengaluru, where numerous past fatalities have been linked to potholes. Police have registered a case at the Avalahalli police station and are conducting an investigation into the matter.
