The historic residence of Bangladeshâs founding leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi 32, long reduced to ruins after violent attacks earlier this year, has been hit again amid renewed unrest. Police and local reports said miscreants carried out new acts of destruction on the night of December 18-19, using heavy machinery such as an excavator to further damage what remained of the museum-like building. The latest assault followed the death of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, whose passing sparked widespread violent protests, including the torching of major newspaper offices and other heritage sites in Dhaka. Authorities confirmed the new vandalism at Dhanmondi 32 amid the broader wave of demonstrations over Hadiâs death.
