Video: 'I'm sorry for everything', says Mark Zuckerberg to parents of child suicide victims

During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on January 31, focused on "Big Tech and the Online Child Sexual Exploitation Crisis," Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, offered an apology to the families affected by child suicides linked to social media use.

The hearing, which was marked by intense scrutiny of tech platforms' role in child safety online, saw Zuckerberg directly addressing the grieving parents in attendance. He expressed his deep regret for their losses, acknowledging the immense pain no family should endure.

His statement came after Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri challenged him to apologise to the victims' families present at the hearing.

Despite the apology, some parents remained sceptical of the sincerity and actions taken by Meta, highlighting the ongoing struggle between tech companies and the need for increased protection of children online.
