The fate of Hashem Safieddine, the likely successor to Hassan Nasrallah as Hezbollah chief, remains unclear. He was reportedly targeted in an Israeli strike on Thursday night. On Friday, sources close to Hezbollah said that Safieddine was severely injured in the strikes. However, the Lebanese terrorist group has not yet confirmed whether he is dead or alive.
On Thursday evening, airstrikes by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) targeted a Hezbollah headquarters in a mosque in southern Lebanon, from where the terror group's members have been operating.
