Donald Trump News: Eight Arab, Islamic states back Trump peace council plan

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar said on X that eight Arab and Islamic countries have agreed to join a proposed Peace Council after welcoming an invitation from US President Donald Trump. In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of United Arab Emirates, Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Qatar said they would sign the required documents under their domestic procedures, noting that Egypt, Pakistan and the UAE have already announced their participation. 

The ministers reaffirmed support for Trump-led peace efforts and said the council would work as a transitional administration to help secure a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, support reconstruction and advance a just and lasting peace based on Palestinian self-determination and statehood in line with international law, under a plan endorsed by the United Nations Security Council.
