900 people killed, 30 million affected as floods ravage Pakistan | Pics

Amidst the ongoing devastation caused by heavy rains and floods in different parts of Pakistan, the government on Thursday officially declared a "national emergency".

The rains and floods have so far killed 937 people, including 343 children, and left at least 30 million without shelter.

Sindh recorded the highest number of death as 306 people have lost their lives due to floods and rain-related incidents from June 14 to date.

The abnormal increase in rainfall has generated flash floods across the country.

The incessant "monstrous" rainfall had made it difficult to carry out relief operations, especially helicopter sorties.

At least 495,259 houses have been damaged in the floods, reported news agency PTI.
