Former RSS pracharak Trivendra Singh Rawat to be next Uttarakhand CM

Former RSS pracharak Trivendra Singh Rawat, who was elected leader of the BJP Legislature Party in Uttarakhand on Friday, will take oath as chief minister today.

 

Rawat, a former state BJP chief, won his traditional Doiwala seat by defeating the Congress's Hira Singh Bisht by over 24,000 votes. 

 

The chief minister-designate is also considered close to BJP president Amit Shah.

 

He was in close touch with Prime Minister Narendra Modi when the latter was a General Secretary of the BJP and in-charge of Uttarakhand.
