A UK man, concerned about the rising air pollution levels in Delhi, posted a video on social media talking about what he described as a full-blown public health emergency unfolding in the capital.

Shared on Instagram by travel vlogger Alex, the video shows him walking through the city wearing a protective mask, distressed by the conditions around him.

Speaking directly to the camera, he says, “This isn’t normal. It is a public health emergency.” Alex mentions that the clip was recorded on December 14, 2025, while he was in New Delhi, where the air quality index had crossed 750.

He goes on to explain the severity of the situation by comparing it to smoking. “It is the equivalent of smoking 18 cigarettes a day. It’s super sad. I can’t even see 50 meters in front of me,” he says, pointing to the thick smog surrounding him. He is then seen removeing his sunglasses to demonstrate that he can look directly at the sun, adding, “That is how bad the air quality is in Delhi.”

Showing empathy for residents, he adds, “My heart goes out to the people of Delhi that live here, born here, work here, stuck here. I can leave tomorrow if I want.” He ends the video with an emotional appeal to the authorities, urging them to act swiftly, saying that citizens of the capital are “slowly dying in front of your very eyes.”

Throughout the clip, Alex and his companion are both seen wearing masks as they move through the city, emphasising the health risks posed by the toxic air.

One user wrote, “All foreigners should make more videos like this so that our government finally understands the condition and start taking steps.”

Another user showed concern, writing, “Please take care of yourself, keep a mask on at all times!”

The post led to a wave of discussions about Delhi’s worsening air quality and the urgent need for long-term solutions.
