Unfair to expect MS Dhoni to finish games every time: Sachin Tendulkar

Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar, while speaking exclusively to India Today on Wednesday felt that the players will need some time to get over the disappointing semi-final defeat to New Zealand in Manchester.

India crashed out of the World Cup 2019 after their 18-run loss against New Zealand in the first semi-final in Manchester.

India got bowled out for 221 in 49.3 overs in pursuit of 240 after the match was forced into the reserve day following the rain interruption on Tuesday.

“Every time it is unfair to him that we expect him to go out and finish the game. Everyone has to share the responsibility of finishing the game for your team his presence there was critical,” said Sachin.

“The strike rotation and running between the wickets with jadeja was important. He is an experienced campaigner who knows when to push himself and save himself. The run out was for the team. It’s fine.”
