Team India coach Ravi Shastri lauded Virat Kohli for his ability to lead from the front despite the intense pressure and said his passion fires up the Indian team in its quest for success.
Kohli became the first Asian captain to win a Test series in Australia. Shastri too backed his captain for his often criticised 'aggression'.
"I have seen very few international cricket captains to have that kind of passion when one goes out in the middle. Yes, one's personality can be different, some may be quiet, some may be reserved. But this guy is in your face," Shastri told India Today in an exclusive interview.
"What it does is that it sends a message to the opposition, it sends a message to your dressing room. As a payers in the team you want to emulate him, you want to get behind him
"It makes the team more confident, the youngsters more confident. Players who come into the team pick it up straight away. It makes a world of difference. That passion and the drive gives confidence to the bowlers. It serves more than one role. When you see him on the field with that kind of passion, where he is so expressive, makes a world of difference," Shastri said.
