Shreyas Iyer Injury Scare: Cricketer Suffers Lacerated Spleen, Internal Bleeding

This special report focuses on the critical injury sustained by Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer during the third ODI against Australia in Sydney. According to the board, 'Shreyas Iyer sustained a blunt injury to his abdomen, resulting in a laceration of his spleen with internal bleeding on 25th October during the third ODI against Australia'. The injury, which occurred while taking a catch, was promptly identified and the bleeding was arrested, leading to his condition stabilising. Now out of the ICU, Iyer remains under the close observation of the BCCI's medical team in consultation with specialists in Sydney and India, with scans showing significant improvement on his road to recovery.
