Six-time world champion Mary Kom, speaking at the India Today Conclave 2019 on her 36th birthday, said she is determined to represent India at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and bid for the elusive Olympic gold.
Recollecting the support she had received from her husband during a crucial phase of her career when her son had to undergo surgery for a heart ailment, Mary said: "I am so lucky I have supportive parents, in-laws, my husband. My husband is very supportive. I am the most luckiest woman because I am married to him. During the time when my son was unwell, he had a hole in the heart. You've seen in the biopic also, they have added a bit of that part. I was supposed to give up. If I recollect them, I am getting emotional, still shivering and shaking.
"That challenge was so hard. Being a mother, how I can leave my son and go abroad for competition? That's very difficult."
