Chief selector MSK Prasad said he was a little disappointed with the fact that his committee was ridiculed by detractors. The Indian selection committee was called lightweight by some but MSK Prasad, basking in the glory of India's iconic triumph, said he did not want to delve into the matter now.
"Well, I was a bit disappointed when people said we're a lightweight committee. But I don't want to answer that," Prasad told India Today's Boria Majumdar.
"The amount of effort this selection committee has put in is great. Jatin Paranjpe had a very big problem in his back during a Ranji Trophy match in Mumbai. But he was watching the match, braving all the concerns. Similarly, Devang Gandhi flew all the way from New Zealand to Kolkata, next day morning he went straight to watch a Ranji Trophy match in UP. Sarandeep Singh skips the most important festivals to be on duty. It's not how many Test matches you play. I am very proud of this selection committee as they have travelled across the length and breadth."
Prasad also credited Rahul Dravid for churning out talented youngsters like Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal who have been an instant hit in Test cricket.
