India batter Shreyas Iyer admitted that the ODI series loss was painful but heaped praise on Australiaâs middle-order batters, who anchored their side to a narrow two-wicket victory in the second One-Day International at Adelaide Oval on Thursday. Iyer also noted that Australiaâs ability to make the most of bowler-friendly conditions helped them take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
"It definitely hurts. I personally feel that in the first game, our performance wasnât that convincing because the rain played a significant role, which benefited Australia. But coming into this game, it was a do-or-die situation for us, and we wanted to put our best foot forward," Iyer told the press.
