Vaibhav Sooryavanshi capped India's sixth U19 World Cup triumph with a historic final, smashing a breathtaking 175 and then leading the celebrations with equal flair in the dressing room.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi ensured India’s U19 World Cup triumph was remembered as much for its celebrations as for its cricketing excellence. Soon after India sealed their sixth U19 World Cup title, Sooryavanshi took centre stage during an Instagram Live session inside the dressing room. Walking up to captain Ayush Mhatre, he revealed that the Indian players had gone live to celebrate the moment.

When asked how he was feeling after leading India to the title, Mhatre replied humbly, “Jo bhi hai Vaibhav ki wajah se hai” (Whatever we have achieved is because of Vaibhav), drawing cheers from those around. Moments later, Sooryavanshi broke into an impromptu dance to popular Bhojpuri songs, adding a joyful, desi touch to the festivities.

Earlier on Friday, it was Sooryavanshi’s breathtaking century that laid the foundation for India’s dominant win over England in the final at the Harare Sports Club. The young batter smashed a sensational 175 off just 80 balls, laced with 15 fours and 15 sixes, as India clinched the title with a commanding 100-run victory.

HOW DID SOORYAVANSHI PERFORM IN WORLD CUP?

Sooryavanshi emerged as the standout performer of the tournament, finishing as India’s highest run-scorer and one of the most explosive batters on display. The 14-year-old left-hander piled up 439 runs in seven matches at an impressive average of 62.71 and a strike rate of 169.49, with one century and three half-centuries to his name.

His performance in the final was truly historic. Sooryavanshi registered the highest individual score ever in a U19 World Cup final and powered India to a formidable total of 411 for nine. Reaching his hundred in just 55 balls, he recorded the second-fastest century in U19 World Cup history and the fastest in a final. His fearless batting sealed India’s supremacy, earning him both Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament honours.

Caleb Falconer fought valiantly for England in the final, producing a superb 115 off just 67 balls, but his lone effort ultimately went in vain. Sooryavanshi’s incredible knock, however, proved decisive and comfortably overshadowed Falconer’s resistance.
