After being put in to bat, India got off to a flyer thanks to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's blistering 24-ball fifty, though Zimbabwe’s Tatenda Chimugoro briefly checked the flow with key wickets. The innings was anchored by a superb 113-run partnership between Abhigyan Kundu and Vihaan Malhotra, who carried his bat for a magnificent unbeaten 109.

The Indian bowling unit, led by skipper Ayush Mhatre and Udhav Mohan, cleaned up the tail in quick succession. Both Mhatre and Mohan claimed three wickets apiece, while R.S. Ambrish picked up a brace. Zimbabwe lost their momentum and collapsed, ultimately being bowled out for 148 in the 38th over.
