India vs Australia 4th T20i Live: What went down in the 2nd innings

Australia’s chase began brightly with Mitchell Marsh and Matt Short putting pressure on the new ball, but India held their nerve and slowly pulled the game back through the middle overs. Axar Patel provided the first breakthrough and then followed it with another tidy, decisive spell. Varun Chakaravarthy kept things tight and used his variations well, while Washington Sundar’s late entry into the attack proved crucial, striking twice in two balls to break Australia’s lower-middle order just as they were trying to rebuild.

Arshdeep Singh returned to remove Philippe with his first ball of a new spell, and Jasprit Bumrah, despite an off day, found his rhythm at the death with clever changes of pace. From there the chase unravelled. Stoinis tried to hold the innings together, but once the spin trio took control, Australia could no longer keep the scoreboard moving. In the end, 167 was far more than competitive on this surface, and Australia fell well short.
India win and go 2–1 up in the series, with the spin combination of Axar, Varun and Washington proving to be the defining factor. India have the momentum and cannot lose the series from here.

Aussie batters crumble to India's spin-wiz

On a surface that offered grip and held up just enough, India’s total of 167 proved more than competitive. The Australian chase never really settled, and the pressure of the scoreboard grew steadily as the overs progressed. While India’s entire bowling unit contributed, it was the spin trio of Axar Patel, Varun Chakaravarthy and Washington Sundar that shaped the contest. They controlled the middle overs, broke partnerships, and forced Australia into errors. Their combined discipline and variation ultimately defined the match and gave India a commanding win, taking a 2–1 lead in the series.

IND vs AUS Live: WICKET! Washington seals the win

Washington Sundar is handed the next over, and the game is all but there for India. He starts with a chance straight away. Nathan Ellis looks to slog him down the ground and miscues off the outside half. The ball goes high towards long-on, but Shubman Gill spills what should have been a comfortable catch. A small moment of tension.

However, Washington does not let it linger. Next ball, Adam Zampa steps in and tries to take him on. The ball is struck in the same direction once more. Gill steadies himself under it again. This time, he holds it cleanly.

Zampa departs first ball. Australia are nine down, and the contest comes to an end shortly after.

India move ahead 2-1 in the series and cannot lose it from here. A composed performance under pressure, shaped by Washington Sundar’s calm impact at the death and the crucial strikes that turned the chase on its head.

India win by 48 runs (take 2-1 series lead)

India vs Australia 4th T20i Live: WICKET! Bumrah into the blockhole

Jasprit Bumrah returns and, this time, he lands exactly what India have been waiting for. He begins with Dwarshuis backing away, but Bumrah follows him tightly and forces a mistimed squeeze to mid-wicket. Next ball, the yorker is on target and Dwarshuis can only jam it out to deep point for a single.

Nathan Ellis arrives and has to deal only with variations. Bumrah mixes up his pace beautifully. The slower ball outside off deceives Ellis twice in succession, each time drawing him into the shot early. First, the dip takes it over the stumps. Then, the dipping yorker leaves Ellis swinging at thin air, before a misfield gifts him a single on the next ball.

And then comes the breakthrough. Bumrah has shown three slower balls already, and he goes for a fourth. This one dips sharply into the base of middle and leg as Dwarshuis swings hard across the line. He misses it completely.

The stumps are rattled. Dwarshuis is bowled.

Bumrah has his wicket and India tighten their grip once more in the closing stages of a tense chase.

India vs Australia 4th T20I: Washington Sundar on a hat-trick

Washington Sundar has completely altered the course of this contest in just a few deliveries. After nearly trapping Stoinis earlier in the over, he now produces the breakthrough India needed.

He darts one in at a good length to Bartlett, who is looking to work it across the line. But the ball holds just a touch in the surface. Bartlett closes the face early and ends up presenting a leading edge straight back to Washington. He takes it calmly and completes the return catch.

Bartlett departs first ball. Washington suddenly finds himself on a hat-trick.

Two wickets in two deliveries. The tension shifts sharply. The stadium senses it. The chase has tilted back toward India.

IND vs AUS Live: WICKET! Washington strikes in his 1st over

A bold call from India as Washington Sundar is introduced for his first over of the night, and it comes deep into the innings with the pressure very much on Australia. The match situation demands control and clarity, and Washington offers exactly that.

He begins on a tight line and length, angling one into Stoinis on leg stump, who works it gently into the on-side for a single. Stoinis then immediately attempts to disrupt the rhythm by moving around the crease, prompting Washington to pull out of his delivery at the last second.
The big moment arrives when Stoinis goes for the reverse sweep and misses. The ball strikes him in front, and up goes the finger. Stoinis reviews instantly. The replays confirm it was sliding down, and the decision is overturned. A close call, but Australia survive.

Dwarshuis then faces up. Washington keeps the pressure on with a full ball at his pads that Dwarshuis flicks straight to the fielder, followed by one on a good length that is punched to long-on for a single.

Sundar keeps it tight, controlled, and composed. No panic, no loose deliveries, just disciplined off-spin. A quietly important over at a crucial time in the chase.

India vs Australia 4th T20i Live: Poor night for Bumrah

India turn again to Jasprit Bumrah, hoping his experience can tighten the game at a crucial stage. But the momentum refuses to shift just yet.

Bumrah starts by slanting one full at the stumps, which Stoinis punches calmly to long-on. Then, facing Dwarshuis, he tries to change the angle and go short, but the left-hander rides it well and pulls behind square for two. A slower dipping yorker follows, squeezed to third man for another run.

Back with Stoinis, Bumrah delivers a low full toss outside off. Stoinis slices it past backward point and they run back for two more. Then the surprise bumper arrives. Stoinis is ready. He picks up the length early and pulls firmly in front of square. It races away to the boundary and is only inches away from clearing the rope.

Bumrah ends the over with a fuller delivery speared into the stumps, and Stoinis drives to extra cover for a single.

It has not quite clicked for Bumrah today. Australia keep the chase alive with smart placement and steady scoring.

India vs Australia 4th T20I: Varun gets the Big Show

Varun Chakaravarthy returns for his final over with the required rate climbing above eleven. The pressure is clear and Australia are starting to feel it. The batters try to manufacture shots, stepping across, shuffling down, searching for gaps, but Varun keeps things tight and offers virtually nothing.

He continues to vary his pace and angle, and then comes the moment. A well-disguised googly lands just outside off. Maxwell, looking to break free, charges down the track, but the ball turns past the bat.

Maxwell is bowled, and India strike at a crucial time. The scoreboard pressure only increases for Australia, and Varun finishes his spell having played a significant role in dragging the game India’s way.

IND vs AUS Live: Arshdeep keeps batters in check

Arshdeep Singh completes a superb over, conceding just a single run and claiming a key wicket. After removing Philippe first ball, he keeps the pressure firmly on Australia with a disciplined back-of-a-length approach.

Glenn Maxwell tries to maneuver the field but finds no room to free his hands. Arshdeep hits that nagging middle-and-leg channel, forcing Maxwell to block or nudge without timing. Even when Maxwell backs away to create space, Arshdeep follows him cleverly, denying the release shot.

Marcus Stoinis also struggles to find any scoring opportunities. A bouncer holds in the pitch and beats him for pace, another short ball cramps him up, and a stump-to-stump delivery is punched straight to extra cover.

Just one run from the over, along with the wicket of Philippe, and the pressure is right back on Australia. India are tightening the screws at exactly the right time.

India vs Australia 4th T20i Live: WICKET! Arshdeep strikes

Arshdeep Singh returns to the attack and makes an immediate impact. His very first delivery of the new spell is a good length ball angled in on leg stump. Josh Philippe looks to clip it away but the ball appears to grip slightly, leaving him just a touch early into the shot. The result is a simple, looping chance to short mid-wicket.

Varun Chakaravarthy is right there, waiting, and he makes no mistake with the catch. Philippe falls for 10, and Australia lose their fifth wicket at a crucial stage.

A timely breakthrough for India, and Arshdeep delivers it right on cue. The momentum shifts once more in a chase that continues to ebb and flow.

India vs Australia 4th T20I: Axar keeps it tight

Axar Patel comes on to bowl what looks to be his final over of the night, and Australia choose not to challenge him much. His control and pace variation have been difficult to get away, and the batters seem content to play him out.

He begins with a delivery drifting in on middle, and Philippe tries to free his arms but can only drive it straight to short extra. Philippe then comes down the wicket on the next ball, looking to go inside-out, but is cramped up by the inward drift and drags it off the inside edge for a single through mid-wicket.

Stoinis tries to find room on the cut but Axar keeps it sliding in on leg and he ends up chopping a risky under-edge just past the stumps for one. Philippe follows with a firm punch down to long-on for another single.

The over closes with two dot balls, Axar keeping a tight line, straightening one just enough to have Stoinis playing carefully.

A composed, disciplined finish from Axar, who has arguably been India’s best bowler tonight. Australia, aware of his threat, wisely decided not to go after him. The chase remains finely balanced.

IND vs AUS Live: FOUR! Stoinis off the mark in style

Marcus Stoinis enters the crease following Tim David’s dismissal, and Shivam Dube continues with the ball. Dube keeps it on a hard length first up, and Stoinis plays it watchfully from the crease. Another shorter delivery follows, and this time Stoinis tucks it towards short mid-wicket but finds no run again. India are building a hint of pressure.

However, Dube ends the over poorly. He goes short and wide, and Stoinis pounces. The ball sits up nicely and Stoinis reaches out to slap it over backward point for four. A gift of a delivery, and Stoinis accepts it without hesitation.

A mixed over. The wicket had given India momentum, but that final ball released some of it back to Australia.

India vs Australia 4th T20i Live: WICKET! Dube strikes again

Shivam Dube continues, and he begins with a slower delivery to Tim David. David reads it early, gets under it, and sends it soaring over mid-wicket for a powerful six. A clear statement of intent.

But Dube responds well. He changes the angle and goes shorter. David tries to take him on again, but this time he does not connect cleanly. The ball takes the top edge and goes high. Suryakumar Yadav settles underneath it and completes a safe catch.

A moment of frustration for David, who knew the opportunity was there. A strong comeback from Dube, and another important wicket for India. The tension in this chase continues to build.

India vs Australia 4th T20I: Tim David goes after Varun

Varun Chakaravarthy returns for his third over and starts well. Josh Philippe looks to get inventive with the paddle sweep but cannot make proper contact. Still, he manages to collect a single and keep the strike rotating.

The batters work a couple more singles, but Tim David then decides to break the rhythm. He picks up the shorter delivery early and sends it comfortably over the square-leg boundary for four, showing just how quickly he can shift momentum.

Varun adjusts straightaway, pulling his length fuller with the leg-break, forcing David and Philippe to play him with more respect. Just seven runs from the over in the end, a solid response after conceding the boundary.

IND vs AUS Live: FOUR! Phillipe starts with a cracker

Josh Philippe walks out and shows immediate intent. He expects the short ball from Dube and is ready for it. When it arrives, he adjusts quickly and pulls it in front of square for four, a crisp and confident first scoring shot that signals his approach clearly.

He follows up with a firm push past mid-wicket for a single, rotating strike and keeping the tempo moving. Tim David then works an off-pace delivery behind square for another run, before Philippe closes the over with a nudge to deep square leg.

Australia continue to keep the scoreboard ticking, and Philippe has made it clear he is not here to play quietly. The match remains finely poised.

India vs Australia 4th T20i Live: WICKET! Marsh departs

Shivam Dube is introduced into the attack, and Suryakumar Yadav’s decision proves spot on. He begins with a loose ball down leg that is called wide, then follows up with a slower, back-of-length delivery which Tim David pulls away for a single.

Mitchell Marsh is on strike next, well set and looking solid. Dube goes for a cross-seam variation, just holding it back enough to draw Marsh into the shot. Marsh looks to lift it over the infield but does not get the elevation. Arshdeep Singh settles under it at mid-off and completes a safe catch.

Marsh departs for 30 from 24, a key wicket for India and one that arrives in successive overs following Axar’s earlier breakthrough. The momentum shifts slightly once again, and the match is back in the balance.

India vs Australia 4th T20I: WICKET! Axar strikes again

Axar Patel is proving to be the key for India today. He starts the over by firing one in flatter, and Mitchell Marsh sweeps it powerfully to the square leg boundary. A clean shot with excellent placement.

Axar, however, holds his composure. He slows the next one up outside off, and Marsh mistimes the attempted big drive straight back to the bowler. Marsh then works another drifting delivery backward of square for a single, rotating the strike.

Josh Inglis now on strike decides to take Axar on. He skips down the pitch and looks to swing through the line. But Axar has pushed this one through quicker, right at the stumps. Inglis misses completely. The ball crashes into middle. Clean bowled.

That is Axar’s second wicket, and yet another example of his disciplined, attacking approach with the ball. He has kept things tight, built pressure, and earned his reward.

Australia are still in control of the scoring rate, but India have a door slightly open now. The game remains finely balanced.

IND vs AUS Live: DROPPED! Abhishek drops Marsh

Varun Chakaravarthy is brought back into the attack, and he nearly provides the breakthrough India have been searching for. Mitchell Marsh goes for the big heave down the ground, and Abhishek Sharma rushes in from long-off. He gets to the ball and dives forward, but it slips through at the last moment. A real opportunity missed, and India know how crucial that could have been.

Varun regroups quickly and starts working through his variations. The googly comes out more than once, keeping both batters unsure of which way the ball is turning. He holds a tight line, tries to lure a mistake, and does well to bring the tempo down.

The wicket was there for the taking, but Australia survive and the chase continues steadily.

India vs Australia 4th T20i Live: Axar Patel keeps AUS guessing

Axar Patel continues, and the over brings a mix of action and tension. It starts with a loud appeal for a caught behind as Marsh attempts the sweep. Jitesh Sharma is animated, but Axar and Suryakumar take a moment to talk it through. They decide not to review, and the replays later confirm the right call — the sound came off the arm, not the bat.

Marsh then settles back in. He blocks one, then gets low on a fuller, flighted delivery and sweeps it firmly to deep square. Washington Sundar is in position but misjudges the dive, allowing the ball to race away for four. Marsh follows it with a lap sweep for two, then drives to long-off for a single.

On the final ball, Inglis is beaten and Jitesh appeals again. This time SKY backs his keeper and India go for the review. Real Time Snicko shows no edge. The decision stays not out and India lose the review.

India vs Australia 4th T20I: Inglis attacks Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah returns for another over in the powerplay, but Josh Inglis wastes no time settling in. He uses Bumrah’s pace and finds the space between third man and backward point with precision, guiding the ball neatly to the boundary.

The field remains unchanged, and Inglis goes to the same scoring area again. The commentators are quick to question whether the placement is right, especially for a batter who has just arrived at the crease. Inglis, though, is more than happy to keep exploiting it.

Nine runs come from the over, and Australia continue to move forward steadily. India will need to adjust quickly.

IND vs AUS Live: WICKET! Axar Patel turns the tides

India needed a breakthrough, and Axar Patel is the one they turn to. The match-up looked promising on paper, and it nearly delivers straight away. He pushes one a little fuller, Matt Short goes for the sweep, and there is an immediate appeal from the fielders.

The umpire is not interested, but Rohit is confident. India go upstairs.

The replays begin. No bat involved. Ball-tracking follows. And it is three reds. That is exactly what India were waiting for. Matt Short has to walk back after a bright and aggressive start, and the Indian players gather around Axar in celebration.

Josh Inglis makes his way to the crease, a right-hander now joining Mitchell Marsh in the middle. The game just got a touch more interesting.

Live Score: Varun into the attack

Varun Chakaravarthy comes into the attack, looking to bring some control into the innings. He begins around the wicket and keeps it tight first up, drifting one in as Short steps away and knocks it to extra cover for no run.

However, on the very next delivery, Varun drags it down and Short pounces immediately. He rocks back and pulls it cleanly over deep square for six. That is his second big hit in quick time, and it keeps the pressure firmly on India.

Varun responds with a couple of tighter deliveries. A googly that Short seems unsure of, chopped away awkwardly past the stumps, followed by one that skids on and is tucked to mid-wicket for no run.

Short then pushes a dipping full toss to mid-wicket and attempts a sharp single. The throw comes in at the non-striker’s end and a direct hit might have made things interesting, but Marsh is safely home.

Marsh finishes the over by working one through deep mid-wicket for a couple. A mixed over for Varun. The big shot stands out, but he did manage to pull things back somewhat towards the end.

IND vs AUS Live Score: India continue getting punished

Arshdeep Singh continues, but this over begins in the worst possible way. He opts for the slower ball first up, and Matthew Short reads it early, sending it straight back over the bowler’s head and into the crowd for six. A clean, confident strike.

Arshdeep goes short again, but Short is well set now. Even a seemingly gentle push turns into a firm hit over mid-off for four. A single follows, but the pressure on the bowler is clear.

Mitchell Marsh then finishes the over with a top-edge that flies away to the boundary. Not a convincing stroke, but every run counts all the same.

A costly over for India. Fifteen runs added, and Australia’s chase gains real momentum.

India vs Australia, 4th T20I Live: Bumrah tests the batters

Jasprit Bumrah takes over from the opposite end and immediately makes his presence felt. He begins with a lovely full delivery angling across the right-hander, swinging late and beating Matt Short’s attempted stroke. A real statement first ball.

Short gets off strike with a single soon after, but Bumrah then lets one slip a touch shorter in length. Mitchell Marsh is not going to miss out on that, guiding it neatly down to third man where it hurries away to the rope.

Bumrah responds by pulling his length back to where he usually thrives, attacking the stumps and searching for movement. He tightens up quickly, allowing just five runs from the over in the end. India will happily take that. The pressure is building slowly, ball by ball.

IND vs AUS Live: Australia get the chase off the mark

Mitchell Marsh is underway with a calm single to start things off. Arshdeep then drifts onto the pads, and Matt Short is more than happy to take advantage. He simply waits on it and flicks the swinging delivery fine for four. A smooth, controlled shot to get himself going.

Short then looks to punch one through mid-off, but Shubman Gill sprints across and puts in a sharp sliding stop. That quick piece of fielding keeps it to just one run and sends a small ripple of appreciation around the ground.

Early signs suggest Arshdeep may want to push his length a little fuller if he is looking for that late swing. Right now, the batters seem comfortable meeting the ball on the move. The contest is just beginning to take shape.

2nd innings underway

And we’re all set for the chase! The Indian team has gathered in a tight huddle out in the middle, the energy is buzzing, the crowd is rising, and the second innings is about to roll.

Walking out to open for Australia is the in-form powerhouse, Mitchell Marsh. The man has been timing the ball as if he’s playing in slow motion while everyone else is stuck in real speed. India definitely needs his wicket early — preferably before he starts doing Mitchell-Marsh-things!

Joining him at the top today is Matt Short, stepping in for Travis Head. Not a bad opportunity for Short — big stage, new role, plenty of eyes on him.

Meanwhile, the new ball has been handed to Arshdeep Singh. The left-armer will be looking to make that white Kookaburra dance in the air. And of course, Jasprit Bumrah is waiting at the other end, like the silent storm we all know is coming.

If India want to defend this total, this opening spell could set the tone. Buckle up — this could get spicy!

India vs Australia, 4th T20I Live

India have reached a fighting total in the 4th T20I of the series.

Despite losing a string of wickets in the middle and death overs, a late cameo from Axar Patel has helped the visitors to reach a total of 167 runs.

Questions will be raised on vice-captain Shubman Gill who played the most number of balls in the innings (39), but only scored 46 runs.

Mostly, the batters struggled today. Shivam Dube, Tilak Varma, Jitesh Sharma were not able to get going. Suryakumar Yadav hit two tremendous sixes but lost his wicket to Xavier Bartlett, trying to hit the third big shot of the night.

The Indian bowlers have their task cut out for them now.

The chase, conning right up.

Once again, a terrific slower delivery from Nathan Ellis. Good length ball, back of the hand, like a googly, says Abhishek Nayar on commentary. Gill goes hard at it, trying to club it through mid-wicket and the ball sneaks in.

Australia have their third and India lose a crucial wicket just when they were building some momentum.

AUS vs IND Live Score: India (125/3 in 15 overs). Shubman Gill (46), Suryakumar Yadav (20).

India batting live: Gill hits the 2nd biggest six of the match

A very entertaining 14th over.

TL;DR

Shubman Gill is given out LBW

The decision is overturned by DRS

Shubman gets length from Marcus Stoinis - hits the ball over long on for the second biggest six of the match - 101m.

13.1: Marcus Stoinis to Shubman Gill, Technology comes to the rescue of Gill. A slower one from Marcus Stoinis on a length around middle and off. Shubman Gill looks to flick this around mid-wicket but gets it edged off the inside onto his pads. Marcus Stoinis appeals and the umpire raises his finger. Gill sends this upstairs straightaway. There is a clear spike on UltraEdge as the ball is next to the bat, saving Gill.

13.3: Marcus Stoinis to Shubman Gill, SIX! HIGH AND HANDSOME! On a length on middle and leg, Shubman Gill stands deep inside the crease, plants his back foot even deeper and clobbers this over the fence towards the longest corner of the park at deep mid-wicket for a huge six.

AUS vs IND Live Score: India (121/2 in 14 overs). Shubman Gill (46*), Suryakumar Yadav (18*).

IND vs AUS live score: Surya starts in style

Back to back sixes from Suryakumar Yadav!

Exceptional start from the India captain. Will this be the match that he returns to form?

Two slog sweeps against Adam Zampa. One off the top edge, and another coming clean of the bat. Both land in midwicket. The first one, just hitting the boundary cushion, and the second one into the stands.

India take 18 runs from Adam Zampa's 3rd over. This is turning into an expensive spell from the most experienced Australian bowler.

AUS vs IND Live Score: India (108/2 in 13 overs). Shubman Gill (37*), Suryakumar Yadav (16*).

WICKET! Shivam Dube departs

Nathan Ellis provides the breakthrough for Australia.

Smart bowling from the fast bowler.

Ellis goes length and wide in the second ball of the over. Dube misses the 140k rocket.

The left hander is expecting the same in the third ball, but Ellis, the master of changes, rolls his fingers over the ball, and bowls it on the leg stump. Shivam Dube gets stuck in his crease while backing away and ends up completely missing the ball.

Ellis hits the leg stump and that is wicket number 2 for Australia. India are stuck in a slight rut now.

4th T20I Live: Shubman Gill under pressure

Is Shubman Gill no longer droppable? The vice-captain is under considerable pressure after having managed just one 40-plus score in the first three matches.

Questions are being asked about his place in the side with former captain Kris Srikkanth asking how Gill deserved vice-captaincy.

India broke the fearsome opening combination of Abhishek Sharma and Samson to accommodate Gill at the top in T20Is. While his elevation to vice-captaincy appeared to make him an automatic selection, questions have been raised about the merit of his place in the T20I set-up, particularly given the options available for the opening role.
