National Aeronautics Space Agency (Nasa) chief Bill Nelson said on Saturday that the two astronauts, Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, staying put at the International Space Station since June, will return to Earth on a SpaceX vehicle early next year. Nelson highlighted some issues with Boeing Starliner's propulsion system and said that it was too risky to carry its first crew home.
The astronauts have been actively engaged in scientific research and maintenance activities aboard the ISS, despite the uncertainty surrounding their return. Nasa's Commercial Crew Program, which includes both Boeing and SpaceX, aims to provide reliable and cost-effective transportation to and from the ISS.
