World leaders gather to commemorate Normandy D-Day landings

World leaders and war veterans attended a series of events to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy. A visit to the historic Omaha Beach provided time for World War-II veterans to walk in the heroic path of those who stormed the beaches 80 years ago and lay a wreath to honour those who didn’t survive the beach landing. 

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden seized a moment from the event to compare the threats posed by 'dictators' and 'authoritarianism' while referring to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
