With weeks to go before the Lok Sabha elections kick off, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party appears to be on a hunt for allies across India aiming to realise the ambitious goal of winning more than 400 seats as part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Could a surprise tie-up with Naveen Patnaik’s BJD in Odisha be followed by potential tracks with former partner Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in Punjab and perhaps even a tie-up with the TDP-Jana Sena Party (JSP) alliance in Andhra?
