Is there any place for an archaic adultery law in today's India?

Should India continue with Section 497 IPC, the British-era law that criminalises adultery? The Supreme Court is hearing a petition that challenges constitutionality of this section. It has also been argued that this law is loaded with gender biasness as it seeks to punish only a man guilty of adultery.
