Ex-Nepal PM's wife set on fire by protesters, dies; CP Radhakrishnan is new Veep

Former Nepal Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal’s wife, Rabi Laxmi Chitrakar, died after her house was set on fire by protesters as demonstrations turned deadly on Day 2 in the Himalayan nation. Chitrakar was taken to the Kirtipur Burn Hospital in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries. Meanwhile, NDA candidate and Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan was elected India's 15th Vice-President, defeating his INDIA bloc rival B Sudershan Reddy, by a margin of 150 votes. While Radhakrishnan got 453 first-preference votes, Reddy managed just 300, signifying cross-voting among some Opposition MPs.
