I-T raids on Karnataka leaders politically motivated or crackdown on corruption?

In a predawn swoop on Thursday, Income Tax (I-T) officials along with CRPF personnel carried out raids at the residences of Karnataka Minor Irrigation Minister C S Puttaraju and his nephew.

Apart from Puttaraju, raids were also conducted on multiple people connected with the ruling parties. Aides of some party leaders were also raided.

The development came a day after, Karnataka CM H D Kumaraswamy raised fears about possible raids on Congress and JD(S) functionaries in the state. So, the question is the I-T raids on Karnataka leaders politically motivated or crackdown on corruption?
