BJP's numerical disadvantage in Rajya Sabha a hurdle for Triple Talaq Bill?

The controversial Bill to ban instant Triple Talaq will be tabled for consideration and passage in Lok Sabha today amid opposition by several political parties. The BJP has issued a whip to all its MPs to be present in the house. The bill criminalises instant divorce, either written or oral, by Muslim men and also seeks a 3-year jail term for the guilty with a monetary fine.

The Congress, TMC and DMK have demanded that the Bill should be sent to Parliamentary committee for scrutiny, while the BJP claims that the Bill to ban Triple Talaq is a step towards equality.
