Searches in Hyderabad to probe Maoist links; Muslim law board's take on UCC

A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) today conducted searches at several locations in Hyderabad in connection with alleged Maoist links. NIA officials searched the residence of Venugopal, son-in-law of Varvara Rao, who was earlier arrested for allegedly plotting to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Meanwhile, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has said that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) law proposed by the Uttarakhand government is "unnecessary, inappropriate, anti-diverse and unworkable".
