Pant earns maiden Test call-up, Shami returns for first 3 England Tests

Rishabh Pant got his maiden Test call-up for the tour of England while Mohammed Shami, who failed a Yo-Yo Test ahead of the one-off Test versus Afghanistan, returned to the Test squad for the first three matches.

Pant comes in as a second wicket-keeper along with Dinesh Karthik, who had earlier replaced Wriddhiman Saha for the one-off Test against Afghanistan. Saha is nursing a thumb injury and his inability to recover in time from it has allowed the selectors to include Pant ahead of Parthiv Patel.

Shami on the other hand, is an automatic choice for red-ball cricket if he is fit.
