With just a week to go for the high-stakes Bihar Assembly polls, the ruling NDA and the Mahagathbandhan have been trading barbs with Chhath Puja and power politics dominating the political battle in the state.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a fierce attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Tejashwi Yadav during a massive election rally in Muzaffarpur. He labelled the two opposition leaders as “yuvrajs†of corruption and accused them of running a shop of false promises. Modi claimed that both Gandhi and Yadav come from the most corrupt families in India and Bihar respectively.
The war of words escalated after Rahul Gandhi, during his own rally a day earlier, launched an aggressive campaign against the Prime Minister, accusing him of doing anything, even dancing, for votes. The BJP reacted strongly, condemning Gandhi’s remarks and demanding an apology from him, Tejashwi Yadav, and other Mahagathbandhan leaders.
As the political temperature continues to rise in the poll-bound state, the BJP has intensified its campaign with senior leaders, including Amit Shah and JP Nadda, set to address multiple rallies. The fierce exchanges have set the stage for a high-stakes electoral battle in Bihar.
