Security lapse during PM Modi's Punjab visit kicks up political storm

The 'security lapse' during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Ferozepur in Punjab on January 5 has sparked a political uproar. Both the central and Punjab governments have launched separate investigations into the matter.

The Supreme Court heard a petition on the'security lapse' on Friday and ordered the Registrar General of the Punjab and Haryana High Court to "seize and secure" all documents related to PM Modi's visit to Punjab from state police and central agencies.

Meanwhile, a number of BJP leaders prayed for PM Modi's long life. BJP workers also demonstrated against the Punjab government in New Delhi, Chennai, Shimla, and Patna.
