Bihar assembly elections: Disqualify candidates with criminal history?

389 candidates contesting phase 2 have serious criminal cases pending against them, says ADR report.

Among the major parties, 28 (50%) out of 56 candidates analysed from RJD, 24( 46%) out of 52 candidates analysed from LJP, 20 (44%) out of 46 candidates analysed from BJP, 14 (42%) out of 33 candidates analysed from BSP, 10 (42%) out of 24 candidates analysed from INC and 15 (35%) out of 43 candidates analysed from JD(U) have declared serious criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits. Overall 49 candidates have pending cases related to crime against women, including 4 candidates who face rape charges.
