Internal squabbles in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is not new but the ongoing open battle between CBI director Alok Verma and special director Rakesh Asthana is the ugliest instance of infighting seen in the agency. An FIR has been registered against Rakesh Asthana, the No. 2 in the CBI for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3 crore.
The FIR by CBI, a copy of which is available with India Today states that the officer took a bribe of Rs 3 crore to settle a case against a Hyderabad businessman Sathish Sana whose name emerged during investigation in Moin Qureshi case. Moin Qureshi is a Uttar Pradesh-based meat exporter.
