Former captain Sunil Gavaskar heaped praise on Cheteshwar Pujara but also slammed the rest of the Indian batsmen after their poor show with the bat on day 1 of the first Test against Australia on Thursday.
Pujara waged a lone battle for India after they opted to bat first and scored 123 off 246 balls to lead the recovery for the visitors after they were tottering at 86 for 5 in the second session on a favourable batting track at the Adelaide Oval.
Pujara's hundred has now added some strength to the Indian total and given the bowlers some sort of a chance to stage a comeback in the match, according to Gavaskar.
