Key breakthrough in covid vaccine race. Lancet study revealed that Oxford University's novel coronavirus vaccine candidate has shown promise in phase I and II human trials. Writing in the journal, the Oxford researchers said that their coronavirus vaccine -- ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 -- "showed an acceptable safety profile, and homologous boosting increased antibody responses".

Meanwhile, coronavirus cases in the country have crossed 11 lakh-mark as India recorded its biggest single day spike with 40,425 new covid infections.
