Is the new Covid-19 variant airborne, hence more infectious?

The coronavirus situation in India continues to remain grim. Delhi on Thursday saw 395 deaths due to coronavirus, the highest since the pandemic began a year ago. Even as cases surge, several states, including Punjab, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh have said they do not have sufficient doses of vaccine for the inoculation of those in the 18-44 age group, and indicated that they may miss the May 1 launch date of the drive.
