Farm law standoff: Trust deficit too big for a breakthrough?

On the eve of another round of talks with the government, thousands of farmers took out tractor marches from various protest sites near Delhi as the agitating unions asserted they would not accept Centre's offer of amendments to farm laws.

The last rounds of talks between the Centre and protesting farmers' leaders have remained inconclusive, although there was some breakthrough in the December 30 meeting when the govt conceded to two demands pertaining to power subsidy and stubble burning.
