Encephalitis horror in Bihar: Has public health system collapsed in India?

Two weeks after acute encephalitis syndrome (AES) outbreak claimed more than 100 lives, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today finally visited Muzaffarpur to take stock of the situation and held a meeting with health officials.

Meanwhile, a plea was filed in the Supreme Court on Tuesday seeking direction to the Centre to urgently constitute a team of medical experts for treatment of children in Bihar.
