Covid cases cross 27,000-mark in Delhi; 2,700 Pune cops test positive; more

Delhi on Wednesday recorded 27,561 fresh cases of Covid-19 and 40 deaths in the last 24 hours. While the case positivity rate in the national capital now stands at 26.22 per cent, the number of active Covid-19 patients is 87,445, according to a health bulletin. Delhi saw the highest jump in daily Covid-19 cases in nearly eight months on Wednesday. Meanwhile, a whopping 1,700 Delhi Police personnel also tested positive since January 1.

In another story, as many as 2,700 police officials tested positive for the infection in Pune city on Wednesday since the beginning of the pandemic. Pune police have been given numerous sets of immunity boosters and have been asked to follow a fitness regime. Pune Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta said police are following all Covid rules and regulations implemented by the government.
