Sukhbir Badal escapes assassination; Rahul Gandhi stopped at Delhi-UP border

A huge security lapse occurred at the Golden Temple in Amritsar as an assassination attempt happened on Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal. A former Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist opened fire at the Akali Dal leader at the entrance of the Golden Temple. The shooter, identified as Khalistani activist Narain Singh Chaura, was apprehended by bystanders and handed over to authorities. Videos show the wheelchair-bound Badal, dressed in a blue 'sewadar' outfit and carrying a spear, ducking for cover as the shooter pulled out a gun.

In the other news, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who attempted to visit the violence-hit Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh, were stopped by the police at the Ghazipur border between Delhi and UP border, leading to a high-voltage drama. The police blocked the highway with barricades and prevented the Congress convoy from entering Uttar Pradesh.
