External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar stated on Tuesday that the situation in Bangladesh does not justify the evacuation of the 12,000-13,000 Indians there, despite the ongoing violence, according to sources.
In an all-party meeting in Parliament, Jaishankar informed that the government is closely monitoring the situation in Bangladesh after the downfall of Sheikh Hasina's government due to anti-government protests that have resulted in over 300 deaths.
The meeting included all NDA allies and most opposition parties, with opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge present. However, the AAP asserted that it was not invited.
