Reiterating her opposition to the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) in West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said her party, Trinamool Congress, won't allow the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) to be implemented in the state.
She made the remarks while addressing the Muslim community at a mosque in Kolkata on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Newsweek, PM Modi spoke about the need to urgently address the border dispute between India and China.
âFor India, the relationship with China is important and significant. It is my belief that we need to urgently address the prolonged situation on our borders so that the abnormality in our bilateral interactions can be put behind us,â PM Modi said.
