Taliban continues to gain ground in Afghanistan. After capturing a strategic provincial capital near Kabul on Thursday, the Taliban took over Herat Police headquarters in Western Afghanistan.

Taliban are learnt to have taken 10 of 34 provincial capitals. Reports indicate Ghazni fell without a fight and the governor was given a safe passage by the Taliban. The Taliban flag also flies on the airport of Kunduz.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan's permanent representative to the United Nations has said there is direct evidence of Pakistan's support to the Taliban as one provincial capital after the other falls to what the Afghanistan government calls is Pakistan backed Taliban.
