In an exclusive interview with India Today, Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, Western Command Chief, explains the Indian Army's concept of 'Dharm Yudh' or Just War. Speaking with Gaurav Savant, he contrasts the ethical conduct of the Indian Army in the 1947, 1971, and Kargil wars with Pakistan's 'adharm'. Citing the Rig Veda and Mahabharata, the General asserts that India's military actions are for righteousness and peace. He addresses the recent Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent 'Operation Sindoor', stating that India responds to terror to protect its citizens. Lt. Gen. Katiyar warns that Pakistan's military leadership, driven by self-preservation, might attempt another attack. He draws a parallel to the Mahabharat, suggesting that for Pakistan's leadership, "when doom is imminent, wisdom is the first casualty." The commander affirms that while the Indian Army fights a 'Dharma Yudh' to win hearts and minds without civilian casualties, Pakistan's army fights in disguise.
