World share markets crashed, compounding their worst week since the 2008 global financial crisis and bringing the global wipeout to $5 trillion, as number of coronavirus cases spiralled.

"The outbreak is getting bigger," WHO spokesman Christian Lindmeier was quoted as saying at a news briefing in Geneva.
