Elon Musk clinches Twitter in $44 billion deal; row over Hanuman Chalisa escalates; and more

Twitter on Monday agreed to accept a $44 billion takeover bid from Tesla CEO Elon Musk, giving the world's richest person control of the social media company once the deal closes.

Speaking for the first time on the burgeoning political furore over the Hanuman Chalisa, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said playing the Hindu religious verse is not a problem, but issued a strict warning against ‘dadagiri’. Meanwhile, politician couple Ravi Rana and Navneet Rana, at the centre of the Hanuman Chalisa row, were denied relief by the Bombay High Court on Monday as it dismissed their writ petition seeking quashing of one of the two FIRs against them. They have now approached the sessions court for bail in the sedition FIR against them.
