Communication blackout continued in Jammu and Kashmir as phone and internet services on Tuesday remained suspended for the ninth consecutive day. People on Monday celebrated a rather dull Eid amid heavy deployment of security. Restrictions were eased at some parts of the Valley but most of it remained under heavy security. A high alert has been issued in the new Union Territory ahead of the Independence Day.
In other news, monsoon mayhem has taken some Indian states by storm. Kerala is battling disastrous flooding for the second year in a row. The death toll in Kerala floods has climbed to 85 while the number of people missing is reportedly 53. As per reports, over 2.51 lakh people have taken shelter in over 1,600 relief camps.
