A controversy erupted between actors Ajay Devgn and Kiccha Sudeep on Wednesday over a debate about Hindi as the national language. South star Kiccha Sudeep, in an exclusive interview with KarnatakaTak, said that “Hindi is no more a national language.” He was speaking in the context of South Indian films breaking records at the box office.

Ajay Devgn took to Twitter to criticise Sudeep's statement and said, "Hindi was, is and always will be our mother tongue and national language." He also questioned Sudeep why South Indian films are dubbed in Hindi if it isn't the national language.

A woman from Tamil Nadu’s Virudhunagar who alleged that her daughter was raped by the local Panchayat head and DMK member’s son attempted to immolate herself outside the collector’s office. According to reports, she carried out the act as a desperate attempt after police did not take any action in the case.
