The Adani Groupâs aggressive push into airports is part of a wider strategy focused on infrastructure-heavy sectors, said Abhishek Basumallick of Shree Rama Managers. He said that the group has consistently targeted areas that require large capital investment and strong execution capabilities.
âAdani has been very aggressive in infrastructure-related spaces such as cement, sports and airports over the last few years,â Basumallick said. âThe airport expansion is just an extension of what the company is already doing as part of its group strategy.â
He explained that the group prefers sectors where capex is high and competition is limited. âThese businesses need very high capex and not many players can enter. Once the assets are in place, it is all about how efficiently you manage them and extract value,â he said.
Basumallick believes the group could look beyond airports in the future. âToday it is airports, tomorrow it could be any other infrastructure area where capital and execution both matter,â he added.
On markets, he said he does not expect major changes unless a US tariff deal is finalised. He remains positive on core sectors such as infrastructure, capital goods, defence and railways, and expects mid- and small-cap stocks to perform better in 2026 than in 2025.
